What is under the art?

I used Adobe Illustrator 9, 10 and CS to create these pieces. I thoroughly researched each make and model of motorbike along with seeking out images, literature and print material of each machine to ensure that I would get the details right. Each illustration took anywhere between a few weeks to several years and the full canvas size of each is around four feet by six feet. As Adobe Illustrator is a vector based program, the images can be printed up to billboard size without losing fidelity.

What you see above are the illustrations in outline mode, or how they look when you remove all of the "digital paint". Every chain link, cooling fin and bolt thread has been put in by hand, and most of the the shading and reflection are built as multiple layers of transparent colors, meshes and shapes.
